Hi, I’m Kim. I’ve been an athlete my whole life. When I was 5, I started taking dance classes and became active in sports. Throughout my childhood I played soccer, softball, downhill skiing, swimming and dancing. By the time I was in high school I was taking dance classes four nights a week, playing varsity soccer in the fall and skiing for the downhill ski team in the winter.
I attended Columbia College in South Carolina to study Dance Education. During my first semester, my right ankle was starting to give me some trouble. I saw three different orthopedic surgeons who suggested I needed surgery for an overuse injury. I couldn’t believe it… I was only 19 years old!
That spring I had lateral ligament reconstruction surgery on my ankle. After about a month on crutches and weeks of physical therapy, my ankle was feeling much better. The following fall I transferred to East Carolina University, and changed my major to Exercise Sport Science. I was interested in the science and rehabilitation of my own sports injury.
Some of the courses I studied include Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Evaluation and Prescription, Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Adherence, Nutrition, Exercise in the Elderly, Motor Learning and Performance, Principles in Health Performance, Athletic Training, and many other health and science courses.
I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. Exercise Sport Science degree in 2003. I then moved to Nags Head to teach group fitness classes. I have 8 years of experience teaching cycle, strength and tone, strength and cardio, core classes, and exercise classes for the elderly.
In July of 2005, I got my AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) personal trainer certification and started in-house personal training. In April 2008, I opened my private studio. My desire is to work with clients individually to help them reach their own personal fitness goals and feel their absolute best.
Together we’ll identify your fitness goals:
- Increase endurance, strength and stamina
- Lose weight and tone muscle

- Improve overall health and wellness
As your personal trainer, my goals are to:
